The Judge Reinholds (remember him, the great actor from Beverly Hills Cop and ... er Beverly Hills Cop II and ... not forgetting Beverly Hills Cop III) are a new band from Cambridge formed from the ashes of The Broken Family Band and Right Turn Clyde.
They are currently recording tracks for an album and from what they have produced so far (have a listen below) it shows great promise.
It's a common for PR releases and publications to promote new bands as having a unique sound but it's rare for this website to use the word, And yet, there is no other way to describe the London four-piece Lazlo Device. Listen to 'Bleeding From the Waistline' and just as you think you recognise the influences it changes and you're in unfamiliar territory.
Jason Cleverley is a singer/songwriter/musician who decided to take a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Music at Plymouth University.
During that time he wrote and recorded 'Shadow Man' at home singing, playing all the instruments and programming. For this album he has reverted to his own name having previously recorded under the pseudonyms of Agent J and Jay Davies.
Hailing from the borough of Enfield, and forming in 2008 after Jamie, Mem and ‘Big Daddy’ Steve met at T Birds in Finsbury Park, the Sudanese Playboys quickly gained a reputation in the local scene for having great melodies, a fantastic live show and a dedication and passion for real music.
Tahiti 80 are an unsigned act from Rouen in France. Like their fellow compatriots, Air, they excel at laid back electronic indie pop. They've released an EP this week, Solitary Bizness, as a prelude to their forthcoming album "The Past, The Present & The Possible". The EP is an excellent collection of infection sounds, professionally produced and expertly executed.
Andy Mitchell is a multi-talented indie/rock/alternative songwriter who not only provides the Vocals but Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Drums, Bass, Keyboards, Engineering and Album Art Design for his songs.
The Black Dove Experiment are an alt rock/indie outfit from London. There latest output, this self titled EP is a fascinating release. These five songs have a strong Radiohead feel about them, however there is a lot of interesting sounds going on behind the scenes in each song. The Black Dove Experiment use industrial beats, synths and ambience to build soundscapes slowly and thoughtfully (checkout 'Burn Out').
Born on the musically iconic streets of Manchester, England but raised on the soulful American sounds of the Counting Crows, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, the Jerzey Street Band is not your typical Mancunian musical project.
This is how the band tell it:-
Jamie Harrison has released his album,'The Struck World and the Bad Planet', as a hand made / wax sealed, limited edition CD.Recorded over the space of four years, beginning as a bedroom project and finishing up in a former police interrogation room in Bristol. The album became an on and off project with long time friend Ben Capp at The Island, which is an infamous squatted police and fire station where they have all sorts of nonsense, but primarily a circus.
50ft Woman are a London based rock/punk/pop band fronted by 6ft (OK so 50 is an exageration) lead vocalist and diva Minki and their EP 'Ménage á Trois' is released this week.
Like the film with the same name Minki, in her heels, towers over the audience and there's no doubt about who's boss.
The Treehouse are an alternative/indie folk band from Lincoln. Fronted by singer Anna Bennett and guitarist Markus Coulson they have just released their first EP ‘Ore’ which is now available for download.
The Band also features Beth Palumbo on keyboards and vocals, Kevin Ashworth on bass and vocals and Josh Baggaley on drums.
The Treehouse recorded ‘Ore’ a five track collection of their first songs with Producer Maurice Mulligan at BrickBeat studios in May 2010.
