Make no mistake, Pilgrimage Of Loathing is not an album for the weak. It's massive slab of doom-fueled vengeance and furious anger aimed squarely at the establishment and the politicians who strike fear into the lives of ordinary people by passing discriminatory laws that take aim at basic human rights and freedoms.
Says Spencer Lee (vocals / bass): "It really looks like things are sprinting towards hell right now. There have rarely been times in America's history, if ever, when using your voice and amplifying it as loudly as possible was so important. This is our voice. We want an absolute hard-stop to the spectre of conservative politics in this country and the platitudes that have kept that politicking alive. Conservatism, in an era like this, is transgression. It is a violation of people's humanities."
Recorded by Kris Hilbert at Legitimate Business and mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Sunn0))), Phantomsmasher), the album will be released by Portland, OR, based Accident Prone Records (Cattle Decapitation, Nadja).
Pilgrimage Of Loathing is available now for a special pre-order discount on Vinyl and digital formats here.

SOUNDGARDEN'S LOUDER THAN LOVE LP AND 20TH ANNIVERSARY DOUBLE LP VINYL EDITION OF DOWN ON THE UPSIDE TO BE RELEASED ON AUGUST 26
Two seminal albums to be released on 180-gram vinyl, with original artwork
Grammy® Award-winning Seattle group Soundgarden launched a musical transformation that inspired a generation while permanently redefining alternative and hard rock music. Coming on the heels of the 20th anniversary deluxe re-release of their chart-topping, five-times-platinum 1994 album, Superunknown, and a three-CD rarities collection, Echo Of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across The Path, Soundgarden will re-release a standard single LP vinyl of their second full-length studio album, 1989's Louder Than Love as well as a two-LP 180-gram vinyl 20th anniversary reissue of their seminal 1996 album, Down on the Upside, both with download cards to include 320kbps MP4 AACs, to be released by UMe on August 26.
Formed by vocalist Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil and bassist Hiro Yamamoto (later replaced by Ben Shepherd) in Seattle in 1984, and soon joined by drummer Matt Cameron, Soundgarden remain one of the most influential bands to emerge from that era of rock, their chart-topping 1994 album, Superunknown, featuring the Grammy® Award-winning singles "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman."
Louder Than Love, Soundgarden's second full-length studio album and major label debut (after the independently released, Grammy®-nominated Ultramega OK), was originally released by A&M Records on September 5, 1989, and was the last to include bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Recorded with producer Terry Date at Seattle's London Bridge Studios, it announced the arrival of a major force on the emerging Pacific Northwest rock scene, later to include Nirvana and Pearl Jam. The album peaked on the Billboard chart at #108, yielding the singles, "Loud Love," "Hands All Over" and the radio-only promo "Get on the Snake," the latter of which was featured in the 1989 movie Lost Angels. Guns N' Roses later paid tribute to the band by covering "Big Dumb Sex" on their 1993 album, The Spaghetti Incident? as part of a medley with T. Rex's "Buick MacKane." Q magazine named the album one of the "50 Heaviest Albums of All Time" in 2001. UMe is now releasing Louder Than Love in a single-LP 180-gram vinyl edition on August 26, newly remastered from the original analog tapes.
Down on the Upside, Soundgarden's fifth full-length studio album, released on May 21, 1996, debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200, represented a significant stylistic departure away from alternative metal into a more experimental sound with an emphasis on vocals, melody and more diverse instrumentation. Entertainment Weekly compared the results favorably to Led Zeppelin in the way the album "so crisply mixed instruments both acoustic and electric." At the time Cornell described several of the songs as "self-affirming" and "autobiographical" while the singles, "Pretty Noose," "Burden in My Hand" and "Blow Up the Outside World," all scored high on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart, the latter two going #1, with "Pretty Noose" nominated for a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance. All three singles also scored on the Modern Rock chart, with "Pretty Noose" and "Burden in My Hand" peaking at #2 and "Blow Up the Outside World" at #8. Down on the Upside went to #1 in Australia and New Zealand and #7 in the U.K., sold 1.6 million copies in the U.S. and was certified platinum by the RIAA. It would be the last new Soundgarden album for 16 years until 2012's comeback King Animal. Now, UMe has made Down on the Upside available for the first time as a two-LP 180-gram vinyl set, newly remastered from the original analog tapes.
CAMBRIDGE LIVE TEAMS UP WITH CAMBRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL FOR FILM PREMIERE AS PART OF SYD BARRETT CELEBRATIONS
Cambridge Live has announced that it is teaming up with the Cambridge Film Trust to premiere a series of films about both Syd Barrett
and the Swinging Sixties at the 2016 Cambridge Film Festival, as part of its celebrations of the life and work of Syd Barrett who passed away on the 7th July 2006.
The centrepiece will be a film, entitled ‘Get All That Ant?’, a free form documentary filmed by a former school friend and fellow art student of Syd Barrett’s, Anthony Stern.
The documentary feature is made up of film footage, stills and archive footage taken during the 1960s and filmed in Cambridge, London and San Francisco. With the majority of footage having never been seen before, the film includes live performance footage and stills from The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Pink Floyd and Donovan as well as footage of friends and colleagues of Syd Barrett including Iggy Rose, the girl on The Madcap Laughs album sleeve and former girlfriends Libby Gausden and Jenny Spires.
The film will premiere as part of a series of film screenings about Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd on Friday 21st October at the Cambridge Guildhall as part of the 36th Cambridge Film Festival which runs from 20th – 27th October.
In addition to the film premiere, Cambridge Live has teamed up with ISpySydinCambridge.com who are offering Syd Barrett-themed walking tours of Cambridge on the weekend of the concert. Led by former school friends of Syd Barrett, Stephen Pyle and Warren Dosanjh, the tours trace some of the key places in the city relevant to the life of the former Pink Floyd guitarist including his former family home, his school, as well as David Gilmour and Roger Water’s ’s family homes.
The film premiere and walking tours are part of a series of previously announced celebratory events about former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett centered around the unveiling of a piece of public art, commissioned in collaboration with Syd Barrett’s family, on Thursday 27 October inside the Cambridge Corn Exchange (the location of his final ever live performances). Following the art unveiling is a live concert entitled ‘Syd Barrett – A Celebration’ featuring Swedish group Men on the Border backed by the Sandviken Symphony Orchestra, with lighting from original Pink Floyd lighting designer Peter Wynne-Wilson.
Tickets for the film screenings and the walking tours will be available from
Speaking about the premiere of ‘Get All That Ant? Filmmaker Anthony Stern said “The film came about after a diagnosis of Parkinsons encouraged me to make sense of the last fifty years of my life. Delving through my cellar, I found suitcases full of Nagra tapes, film reels and over 7000 still photographs from the period 1963 – 1970. This film is a homage to that time, capturing the dreams, memories and reflections that sprung from a moment when we really thought we could change the world. Fifty years on, I’m starting to think these values are starting to reemerge”.
Cambridge Live Operations Director Neil Jones said “It’s great to link the world premiere of Anthony Stern’s film to this year’s Cambridge Film Festival. The footage in the film has locked away for over 4 decades and makes for an incredible documentary of the Swinging Sixties by a man who was at the very heart of the scene and captured it all first hand. Along with other films about Syd Barrett it should make for a fantastic evening”.
London-based Alternative Rock/Pop singer-songwriter Sir. O is marking his debut LP release, 'Forever + a Day', alongside the release of a new single, ‘Lost’, taken from the album.
'Lost'is an alternative rock duet, performed alongside singer-songwriter Lir Shilton, who is also Sir. O’s other half.As hinted in the track’s title, the song is about getting lost in the world, a well-known feeling we all share. The melancholic lyrics come across in perfect harmony with the vocals and peaks with the powerful line “On the outside I’m alive, on the inside I’m dead”. ‘Forever + a Day’is a 12-track LP perfectly combining alternative rock hymns and pop ballads. Sir.O’s reflective songwriting is marked exceptionally throughout the album, blending with a refreshing yet familiar 90s britpop sound. With vibrant drums and guitars, the songs are beautifully shaped by a layered production that grants‘Forever + a Day’ its distinct atmosphere.
Having shown great promise with his previous EP and single releases, Sir. O has already been highlighted as one of the most interesting emerging artists in the UK.His debut single ‘Please Stop Talking’ was played on BBC London and was added to SubTV playlist, alongside singles from Noel Gallagher, The Prodigy and more. With headline sets at stunning venues such as O2 Academy Islington and Birmingham, as well as support for the likes The Subways, it is no wonder his songs were played on over 100 radio stations worldwide.
Sir. O has received public recognition from Britpop legend Rick Witter (Shed Seven) who played him on his radio show. He recently supported Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) live at Surya, London. His ‘GoPro Sessions’ project was praised by GoPro Company, band A-ha and featured on the American ‘Acoustic Guitar’ magazine.
John Otway joins line-up at Chichester’s Priory Park Festival
John Otway, the self-styled British legend who has made a very successful career out of being Rock ‘n’ Roll’s Greatest Failure, joins the line-up at this year’s Priory Park Festival Chichester.
A man renowned for glorious deeds of derring do, improbable schemes, taking on the mighty WEA record label, never letting failure get in the way AND having two hits, John Otway brings his own unique show to Chichester on Saturday July 9th.
Otway is currently working on being the next artist to record at the famed studios in Montserrat – he’s just mounted a Kickstarter campaign to prevent having to record in Harlow (the alternative).
“Obviously I would prefer it to be Montserrat,” he says. “I wondered why, after all those great albums were recorded there, no-one had been back for years. Then I discovered that the island had been hit first by a hurricane and then by a volcano. But, although the old Air Studios are now derelict, the studio in the basement of Sir George Martin’s house is sound – it just needs rebuilding.”
If the campaign is successful – and it’s certainly looking to be that way - John Otway will be the first international act to record on Montserrat since the Rolling Stones recorded Steel Wheels.
The new album follows the release of two autobiographies, Cor Baby That’s Really Me and I Did It Otway, and the documentary on Otway’s life – Rock ‘n’ Roll’s Greatest Failure: Otway The Movie.
Screened at both Leicester Square and at the Cannes Film Festival, the film proved a surprise hit with screenings across the country and much critical acclaim. The Guardian gave it a four star review while their readers’ Best Film poll voted it No 2, second only to Gravity.
John Otway’s addition to the bill confirms this eclectic new festival’s place as a must-go-to-event. He joins other music stars playing across the three days including Seth Lakeman, Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Feeling, the Manfreds, PP Arnold and Zoe Rahman and Courtenay Pine.
The second, Guildhall, stage at the Chichester weekend also holds gems of its own. With a series of famous speakers it should prove a unique literary event in its own right.
Featuring music, poetry and talks, some of the star attractions include Dame Esther Rantzen talking about 30 years of Childline, Glyn Johns being interviewed about his star studded production career and Pink Floyd aficionado Glen Povey discussing that famous band.
It also features the Sussex Alphabet, a unique collaboration between the South Downs Authority, young people from schools throughout Sussex and experienced writers such as Dr June Goodfield.
Various ticket prices apply and the second stage sessions at the Guildhall can be purchased separately. As a special educational offer, on a first come, first seated basis, school children will be able to attend these Guildhall sessions for £1 each.
All tickets are available on line at www.chichesterlive.co.uk or in person from the Festival Box Office Cloisters Shop, Cathedral Cloisters, Chichester, PO18 1PX (open Monday – Saturday 10am – 5pm). 01243 813595.
Apple Valley, CA (June 13th, 2016) - Panic State Records was founded on the ideals that music can make a change in the world. In two weeks, Panic State Records is releasing one of the most important records in the labels history by the California Punk/Hardcore band Stay Wild.
Stay Wild are outspoken proponents to all of the ideals that Panic State Records were founded on. In response to the disgusting and pointless loss of life in Orlando, Florida, we have decided to make their song "Blossom" available for download as a "Pay-What-You-Want" option. Panic State Records and Stay Wild will be donating 100% of all sales of "Blossom" to the families affected in Sunday's shooting. On top of that, Panic State Records will be donating 10$ from every Stay Wild - "Feminist" shirt sold for the month of June (https://panicstaterecords.bandcamp.com/m…/stay-wild-feminist)
Here is what Nick Riggs (Vox/Guitar) of Stay Wild had to say:
"We're releasing this brand new song early (name-your-price) in order to donate proceeds to those affected by the mass shooting in Orlando, FL on June 12th.
Our other songs will be available along with this one on our new EP livelearnlove on June 24th, via Panic State Records.
Homophobia just caused America's deadliest mass shooting. This was an attack on love and the freedom to love another human being. We were devastated. Our queer brothers and sisters are constantly the target of discrimination and violence. This happened on such a large scale, but smaller instances take place consistently around the world, in your state, in your city and in your community. Whether someone is ostracizing another for having a same-sex partner, threatening a woman entering a bathroom because she may have identified as a man in the past, or calling someone a faggot, its all f***ing disgusting.
It all comes from the same place that helped produce this massacre.
This song was not written to urge anyone to change their beliefs, but rather as a statement of solidarity with the LGBTQ community. People choose to be on the wrong side of history quite frequently. Those who can acknowledge human progress and wish to associate themselves with the ideology that gay folk are people too, they will come around.
In the meantime, we'd rather voice our support for an empowered community of our beautiful, smart, loving brothers and sisters. While writing the lyrics for this song, I (Nick), was seeing my best friend and our bass player Jehiah struggle with coming to terms with his bisexuality. This is one if the strongest people I know who was battling with something that should be so simple. Unfortunately, due to our society, social stigmas, and some intense lingering religious brainwashing, it wasn't the easiest task for him, and It was very hard to see him fight with it. That definitely came out in the song.
I don't think there's too much to say about why we decided to release this song early for this cause.
The three of us that make up Stay Wild experience social privileges. We are young, white, male, and mostly cis. We will most likely never go through the types of hardships that most of the LGBTQ community regularly endures. We know that these donations will never help repair the damage that has been done, but we hope to at the very least financially alleviate those affected in any way that we can.
To the victims of this tragedy, to the families who had their beautiful wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, daughters and sons taken away from them so abruptly for no reason, to the LGBTQ community, we admire you deeply. And we will forever be by your side."

Set to play WOMAD this year, multi-award winning Afro-pop songstress Wiyaala has come a long way since her humble background growing up in the small Ghanaian village of Funsi.
“She’s the only woman in the world singing in Sissala – and she will mesmerize you”
“Wiyaala is a feisty young woman from northern Ghana, bursting with attitude and drive”
BBC News – World – Africa
– Africa on the Blog
The last few years have seen Wiyaala rise from rags to riches. Now on the cusp of becoming a worldwide star, the singer hopes to inspire others by spreading her message of love and peace, whilst also raising awareness of the injustices still taking place to this day in third-world countries all over the world.
Her new self-titled album Wiyaala has already received nationwide success in Ghana. She now hopes to establish a global audience.
Stream the single ‘Peace’ from the album here on Soundcloud:
The record is a selection of vibrant Afro-pop anthems sung largely in Sissala, but with a poppy catchiness inspired by Western Culture.
As the singer explains: ‘My album is the product of my environment as a young girl growing up in a West African Village at a time when the influences of Western TV and video first impacted on the African villager …You are hearing my African heritage fusing with the sounds and techniques of western production.’
Wiyaala rose to recognition after coming first place in a 2012 Vodafone Icons reality show as part of the group Black n Peach, a year earlier emerging as the second runner-up in Ghana’s Stars of the Future talent show. She has become famous despite little radio airplay, rejecting the music industry’s ruthless commercialist side and becoming famous as a result of her live performances and what she stands for. Grace Jones, Tina Turner and Angelique Kidjo are artists that she is sometimes compared to.
Often referred to as the ‘Young Lioness of Africa’, she has become renowned for her activism, working to abolish child marriage and abuse in her home continent as well as campaigning for women’s right to education – freedoms that we take for granted here in the Western world.
Her fierce ideals are a result of her impoverished upbringing and being a first-hand witness to social injustice. ‘At school, I have seen young teenage girls pulled out of the classroom to be married off. The next time you see them they are pregnant and selling pepper in the market… When I was small, we were often hungry. Sometimes we would catch a mouse, roast it and share it amongst 3 or 4 children.’
She is currently working on projects with The Ministry of Gender and Child Protection and UNCEF in Ghana.
Her debut album ‘Wiyaala’ is out now
Stream the single ‘Timbanayi’ from the album here on Soundcloud:
"Infused with slowly unfurling, hypnotic loops, menacingly creeping to fast-paced electronics, trip-hop-inflected beats, winding to shimmering synths, a plethora of melodic noise, and Maddox’s broodingly hazy, lightly dazed vocals" - Jen Dan, Rebel Noise
Alternative electronic maverick producer Dean Garcia, the musical mastermind behind seminal alternative rock band Curve and electronic dream pop duo SPC ECO, has joined forces with Preston Maddox of post-punk noise-rock band Bloody Knives in a new project, called S T F U.
Their debut LP ‘What We Want’, slated for release on July 29, is laced with unfolding hypnotic loops that gradually progress to uptempo electronics, trip-hop laden beats, lush noise entwined with shimmering synths, and Maddox’s hazy trance-like vocals.
The title track ‘What We Want’ is also the first single. “My favorite thing about this track is it has a filthy quality to it that is essential, like being immersed in the pollution of our dystopian future where everything is covered in layers and layers of filth,” says Preston Maddox.
“W W W took about three months from beginning to end to conceive and record. Without a doubt, this is the most painless and connected record I have made outside of my close family. A surprising inspiring and joyful set of events and recordings,” explains Dean Garcia. “It kind of made itself as in there was never any doubt or soul searching as to what it should could or want to be. It just was its own self from start to finish, we just made it happen."
Apart from his nearly 15-year history with Curve and his decade long project SPC ECO with daughter Rose Berlin, Dean Garcia has also toured the world several times and recorded multiple albums with such established artists as Eurythmics, Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck, Bryan Ferry, Sinead O'Connor and Ian Dury. Apart from Preston Maddox's involvement in Bloody Knives and S T F U, he will also be playing bass with UK punk band Conflict on their upcoming US tour.
While their many commonalities and common circle of friends are what originally brought these two artists together, the debut S T F U album came to life in two separate studios. London is now home for Dean Garcia, while Preston Maddox is based in Austin, Texas.
“There is an advantage to being able to do what you want on your own musically. It puts you in the position to always work with someone because you want to, not because you have to, and I'm very fortunate to have that,” explains Preston Maddox. “Making cool music is the most important thing, and when you are working with the right people its the easiest thing to do too.”
‘What We Want’ is being made available via the S T F U Bandcamp. It also features a free hidden gem, called 'Paralyzed', which was recorded around the same time as the other songs on this album and features separately on the M A D album 'Slow Mo' with Steve Monti (Curve, Jesus & Mary Chain). Find it at http://mad-hq.bandcamp.com.
Cinematic in atmosphere and brimming with carnivalesque creativity, Circus is the brand new exciting EP from experimental pop artist Daisy and The Dark (aka Sarah Kayte Foster).
'Somewhere between the ghostly gliding & luscious laments of Kate Bush, the boldness of Björk and the haunting images of Kylie Minogue floating in a lake, comes Sarah Kayte Foster.' – Backseat Mafia
‘Resplendent, bold and ambitious. It’s her daringness to experiment - and those ethereal, oscillating vocals – that sets Daisy and The Dark apart’ – Chart Shaker
Previously a member of classical chart-topping band the Mediaeval Baebes for five years, Sarah left the band in 2014, after charting at No. 8 in the UK Classical Charts with the double album ‘Of Kings and Angels’.
She has since poured her musical talent into a solo career as Daisy, performing theatrical shows at Secret Garden Party and the Royal Albert Hall, and releasing her 2015 debut EP ‘Red Planet’ as a new interactive app which IBM called ‘the best collaboration between music and technology I’ve seen in a long time.’ The record went on to receive a whole host of online coverage, garnering praise from the likes of SupaJam, Chart Shaker and Noizze.
Her new EP ‘Circus’ is set for release July 8th.
Stream lead single ‘Circus’ here:
A vibrant video directed by BAFTA award winning Shreepali Patel accompanies lead single and title track ‘Circus’, with cinematography coming courtesy of award-winner Nicola Daley - making it one of the few music videos to have an all female team at the helm.
Sarah’s creative energy extends beyond music and she has worked extensively as a professional actress, as well as creating artwork, videos, costume and performance art all inspired, like her songs, by her great love of cinema and magic.
Her ethereal and other-worldly style is sure to appeal to fans of artists like Kate Bush, Bjork, FKA Twigs, Bat for Lashes and David Bowie.
